Some of you may know how hard it is to be the new kid at a school. You don’t know anyone, your schedule is confusing, and you generally have no idea what is going on for the first few days. Now, imagine going through that except in a different country, in a different language.

Those are the difficulties that foreign exchange students face during first few weeks at North Scott. Eventually, they will get the hang of things, make friends, and become as much of a Lancer as the rest of us, but to do this, but they need help.

This year, North Scott is hosting six foreign exchange students: Verena Brey (Germany), Camille Fourre (France), Linda Segerfeldt (Sweden), Fabienne Winteler (Switzerland), Ana Garcia Bendito (Spain), and Jaime Ruiz (Spain).

If you meet a foreign exchange student in a class or at lunch, be friendly and helpful. Ask them questions and make them feel included. It will make it much easier for them to adjust and have a great experience here in America.
