The Unreal Paranormal Activity

“One of the scariest movies of all time,” says BloodyDisgusting.com, which is a completely ironic statement. There was no blood in the movie at all, and here’s another little fact the world should know: it’s not even real.
Paranormal Activity is the story of a young couple that is haunted by a demon in their house. This is a scary idea especially when you walk into the theater believing that these are real people. The beginning is slow but even once night creeps in, it’s just a lot of noises and cheap effects at what is supposed to be 2:00 in the morning.
Then they give the biggest slap in the face by showing pointless day scenes where the couple bickers. It kills the suspense and destroys the small terror these actors think they have. Mika, the man of the two, keeps doing stupid things. For example, his girlfriend tells him not to buy a Ouija (wee-gee) board and he blatantly disregards it and gets one anyway.
Mika always eggs the demon on, which is one of the worst moves you can make. Worse than that is that the movie is filled with stupid effects such as doors closing, flickering lights, swinging chandeliers, pictures breaking, and a girl walking around like she’s possessed, but she’s really not. Possibly the worst flaw of all is that things start happening in the daytime which destroys all classic elements of night as the time of fear. These are just some of the many examples of the terrible mistakes that were made in this film.
Overall, Paranormal Activity was a movie of spineless fear and low budget effects. It does not even live up to its hype. Forget ghosts and demons, the only thing disappearing in this movie as my time and money. For as much as it’s worth, just watch the trailer. It ruins the ending so once you have seen that its over. It is hardly scary and has little value as a movie. There aren’t even credits when this movie ends, just a blank screen that shows for about five minutes. “I’m so startled,” said Jameson Shank sarcastically at the end.
