Tanzanian Pastor Visits with North Scott Students
By Jameson Shank
Grayson Mhale, a pastor from Tanzania, spoke to Mrs. Mac’s Eastern World Geography class on Monday, September 21. Pastor Mhale came to the U.S. as a part of the Crossing Boarders program, which brings Tanzanian pastors to preach and discuss their lives.
He will be residing in Iowa, for two months until the middle of November. Pastor Mhale also spoke at the Faith Lutheran Church in Eldridge on September 19 through the 23. The church helped in providing a place to stay in Eldridge during his time in the Quad-city area. Pastor Mhale spoke positively of his visit to the U.S.
As Pastor Mhale spoke to Ms. Mac’s students, he took the time to answer North Scott student’s questions about his life in the East African country of Tanzania. They learned that he was born 45 years ago in the Kilimanjaro region of the country. Growing up in Tanzania, a country with a strong Lutheran presence, influenced Mhale’s decisions to become a pastor. Mhale started school when he was six years old and, as he became older, studied philosophy as a college student. He still lives in Tanzania and works as a pastor at Mtii.
